Our first original & free pattern affectionately nicknamed the Beginner's Singlet.

You can knit it in less than half a day and that's factoring in extra time for breaks and getting distracted with the TV in the background. Yes. You read that that right, from yarn on a cone to a singlet on your body. It is that simple!! All you need a standard single bed domestic machine, no ribber, no linking necessary.

Just select your size and the yarn you want to make it in and add to cart. The PDF will be emailed to you so make sure you enter an email at checkout. Please allow 1-3 days as it isn't automated. We would love to hear feedback good and constructive so let us know how you go - info@knitinprogress.com

Check below tabs for more details for sizing and yarn.

WHAT CAN I MAKE?

Sizing:

Our sizing is based on your chest size measurement (in cm).

Grab a tape measure and measure the widest part of your chest and download the size that corresponds to that. If you plan to wear a bra under, you would take the chest measurement with this in mind.

HOW THICK IS THIS YARN?

Yarn:

We've made this singlet in 2 yarns, Japanese Wool for a lighter summery singlet and Merino Cashmere for plushy mid weight feel.

Note that you will need 2 ends if you're working with Japanese Wool and 1 end for Merino Cashmere.

Yarn estimations:

74-79cm ~ 60 grams

80-84cm ~ 80 grams

85-89cm ~ 100 grams

90-94cm ~ 120 grams

95-99cm ~ 150 grams

  • Can I use your yarns to hand knit, crochet or weave?

Of course! We have stock a range of thicknesses from super fine to chunkier yarns for all your creative projects.

You can filter our yarns by gauge via the 'SHOP YARNS' page.

  • How do I know what size yarn is right for my machine?

We’ve done all the groundwork so you don’t need to!

Scroll up to view the ‘MACHINE SUGGESTION’ section where we have machine and knit recommendations for each yarn.

  • What's the difference between hand and machine knit yarn?

Machine knit yarn is coned yarn for even tension and has more strength than hand knit yarn. You can use both interchangeably but the biggest difference would be the stretch and strength machine knitting yarn has.
