A shimmering metallic lurex yarn to inject some glitz and glam to your next project. Metallic lurex yarn is a fine yarn and when knitted on it's own is quite dry. It is recommended to ply up with another yarn like our FINE MERCERISED COTTON to add texture and shimmer to tops, dresses, skirts, you name it! 

Composition: 100% metallic polyester

Any jersey or double bed stitches plyed with other yarns for a more marled organic look and smoother knitting experience! To unlock the full glamour effect, knit with multiple ends and keep to basic stitches like jersey as it the yarn doesn't have alot of stretch. 

  1. Hand feel swatch is 2 ends of PINK GARNET knitted on standard domestic on tension 0.
  2. Creative swatch is gradienting stripe in GOLD and PINK GARNET mixed with Fine mercerised cotton in ECRU, BUTTER and VINTAGE ROSE in standard gauge. 

 

Standard domestics: 2-3 ends knitted by itself or 1 end mixed with other yarn.
Dubied 7gg -12gg: 1-2 ends depending on fullness.

Cover cone with stocking when knitting, it helps to regulate the tension.

HOW THICK IS THIS YARN?

Our yarn thickness is measured using the NM count, the industry standard in the textile world. This differs from ply, which is commonly used for hand knitting yarns. To help you visualize the yarn's thickness, we've compared it to everyday items.

This yarn is similar thickness to sewing thread, fine and delicate!

Finishing:
Iron on low temperature with piece of cloth separating knit and iron to set shape.

Washing:
Hand wash only in cold or lukewarm not exceeding 30℃ using neutral soap.
Do not bleach.
Do not rub, wring or tumble dry.
Iron at low heat with piece of cloth separating knit and iron.
Dry flat in the shade.

Can you wind larger amounts?

Yes we can! Slide into our DM's on instagram or email us at info@knitinprogress.com and we'll sort that out for you. We're open to feedback so if there is demand for larger cones we'll certainly add it in the future.

How accurate are the colours?

We do our best to ensure the colours displayed on the website are precise however they are photographic representations only. If you are unsure of a colour, it's best to reach out to us for assistance.

How long will it take to receive my order?

What is your return policy?

We want you to love your purchase so if it’s not what you expected, we are happy to refund – no stress!

We have a 30 day return policy, get in touch with us at info@knitinprogress.com so we can process it for you. Please ensure the yarns are returned to us in their original condition and weight. In addition to a refund we can also provide you with store credit or exchange on purchases that meet our return standards. As we are a small business, we cannot refund return postage costs.

  • Can I use your yarns to hand knit, crochet or weave?

    Of course! We have stock a range of thicknesses from super fine to chunkier yarns for all your creative projects.

  • How do I know what size yarn is right for my machine?

    We’ve done all the groundwork so you don’t need to!

    Scroll up to view the ‘MACHINE SUGGESTION’ section where we have machine and knit recommendations for each yarn.

  • What's the difference between hand and machine knit yarn?

    Machine knit yarn is coned yarn for even tension and has more strength than hand knit yarn. You can use both interchangeably but the biggest difference would be the stretch and strength machine knitting yarn has.
